Q: Late 90's Lincoln Navigator vs Lexus LX?
I am debating between these two vehicles as my next purchase...I like the looks of them both, and could probably get a newer navigator for the money up to maybe 2001. The lexus I have found for a steal. I was wondering what anyone's experience was with either of these vehicles...to help decide which might be a better fit for me? I posted it in this category for reliability, durability, and maintenance cost reasons.

A: A Toyota will beat a Ford in all three areas - reliability, durability, and maintenance cost. Stick with the Lexus. Navigators have lots of electrical, steering and suspension, heating, and engine issues.

Q: Need help choosing btwn used Expeditions and Navigator.?
Okay, I have been car shopping and have found 4 vehicles I *like. 3 are Ford Expeditions, 1 is a Lincoln Navigator and all are used. I have looked over the vehicles, done carfaxes on them all and done blue book values for them all: *1999 Expedition 4.6L V8* 101,242 miles - kbb value $8820 (asking $9995) Clean title, 3 owners (1 Commercial, 2 private, shows reg service history for the Commerical-1st-owner) *2000 Ford Expedition 5.4L V8* 148,170 miles - kbb value $8680 (asking $8990) Clean title, 1 owner (Commercial) *2001 Ford Expedition 4.6LV8* 122850 - kbb value $8335 (asking $10995) Clean title, 2 owners (1 Commercial, 1 private) Carfax shows that it was repo-ed from the 1st owner and sold at auction, then had " fuel, electric, brake and suspension serviced" after 2nd owner bought it. *1999 Lincoln Navigator 5.4L V8* 113840 miles - kbb value $8385 (asking $9995) Clean title - 3 owners Shown to have passed emissions inspections with owner in FL (1st owner, 1999) Ran our of room. Questions: I know all are higher mileage and older models but I have to have 3rd row and must be able to pay cash. Assuming I can get them down to around BB value which one do you think is best? Any other research I should arm myself with? What is the difference in a 4.6L and 5.4L and which is preferrable? Thanks so much!

A: Expedition is cheaper, same motor and frame on both, Navigator a little more fancy with the chrome outside, not worth the money difference.

Q: Acceleratorion problem in foward only?
I buy Lincoln Navigator of the 2000 4WD. the motor it's broken and replaces it by one of the 2001. 2 months later the Lincoln is coming(comenzo)to give to a tug the revolutions and the miles went away to zero and began to blink the light bulb of theft and the Lincoln its off(se apaga). This single failure happens when the accelerator is full or complete and foward only in reverse no have problem.

A: Disengage the parking brake.

Q: Ethanol in trucks?
Can you use this type of fuel in a lincoln navigator year 2001.

A: i don't think so. the flex fuel option didn't get popular in vehicles until 2004-2005.

Q: Do you own a Ford Expedition, and has this happened to you?
I recently discovered a website that had stories and complaints from people who owned Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators that would catch fire in their driveways and in garages. Some of them said their entire homes were burned to the ground because of these vehicles, and Ford would not help them. This really concerns me, as I have a 2001 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer edition. Has anyone here had this problem or know someone who has had this happen to them.

A: There is a recall for this problem, I have a 2000 Expedition and found the recall notice on the web. The problem is a 15 minute fix at your dealer, it has to do with your cruise control and basically the dealer just puts a smaller fuse in the cruise control so it will blow out quicker if you have the problem your talking about.

Q: My dad won't lend me his Car, why not?
I've been preparing a trip to Buffalo for a while now. I live in Toronto. I have been driving my families 3rd car (an old chevy astro). It broke down on me the other day, and had to get my mom to bail me out. Well, now I'm terrified of driving to Buffalo in my mom's car a Ford Taurus 2001, because she also said that it's unreliable. Meanwhile we have a 2003 Lincoln Navigator which literally sits on our driveway collecting dust, my dad is pretty touchy about the car. I told my mom, wouldn't you rather me drive the Navigator down to Buffalo since you won't have to worry about me breaking down in the middle of the highway? I understand we bought the Navigator back in early August, but you would think that his priority is my safety? Maybe he'll end up lending me the car, who knows. Well, long story short, I'm still driving the unreliable ford taurus down to Buffalo. Am I wrong here? Or is my dad being a little selfish? For one thing, my dad doesn't use the Navigator to go to work. The only time he ever uses it, is if he goes to the grocery store. His work partner picks him up in a work truck. The 2nd car is already unreliable. My mom uses the train to go work anyways. Besides I pay for my own insurance, i pay for gas. I pull my weight, it's not like everything was given to me.

A: its his car, and if they work its unfair for them to have two unreliable cars to get to work everyday. if you want a reliable car, you go pay for one. his car = his rules. i'm sick of people feeling entitled to everything. go work for it!

A: there is a service bulletin on your problem, its not a recall,,,the factory send this bulletin so the mechanic could pinpoint the problem right away if my hunch is correct they will replace the whole instrument panel but first make sure you get a trouble code, and start from there tito
