Q: why would the engine fan come on when driving my 2002 Kia Sedonna?
I have 78,000 miles and recently the engine fan comes on and is very noisy. My temperature gauge is fine and oil is fine. Any ideas? HELP
A: the fan can come on for a number of reasons, bad coolant temp sensor, low coolant level, stuck open thermostat, and especially if you are running your ac, or defrost.
Q: problems with spare tire latch 2002 kia sportage?
I just bought a 2002 Sportage and can't close the outer spare tire latch. It seems that I ought to just push it and it would close. It opened with no problem.
A: First lube the latch mechanism, then work it a few times to get it loosened up. If that doesn't work, you may need a new latch.
Q: Anyone deal with KIA over 2002 sportage fan assembly recall?
My fan blow apart while I was driving. I research recall on the net and found out the part was defective now they won't cover repairs.
A: Did you contact KIA at 1-800-333-4542 ?
The thing about recalls is that they may not cover all cars. Your car may not be part of the recall.
Did you receive a recall letter?
If your not satisfied after contacting KIA you can contact the NHTSA and file a complaint

Q: How to adjust the idle on 2002 kia rio?
A: don't fool around with this issue...take it to the garage...read the answer to your first question about the iac..this is over your head (repair wise) if u want to fix it yourself have a pro tell u whats really wrong...it will be hard to diagnose on this forum...with no facts about any sensors or vacuum information
Q: I have a 2002 Kia and the timing belt went how much do you think that would cost?
yes i have a lot of miles because i do a lot of driving, but i make sure i keep maintence up
A: Depends. Did it break or just jump a few teeth? If you have an interference engine and it broke you are looking at a new engine. If its not an interference engine or just jumped a few teeth without damaging anything a few hundred for parts and labor.
Q: where is the vent valve purge canister on a 2002 kia sportage?
A: Open your glove compartment. Reach up until you find a black and smooth ball shaped object pull out and clean. After that behind that is your canister.
Q: where is the voltage regulator on a 2002 kia sedonna?
A: It should be built into the alternator, but who knows what the Koreans are doing these days.
Q: i have 2002 kia car the belt is sqeeking how do you fix and how and were?
i have a 2002 car the belt is sqeeking when you turn the wheels tothe right and left. how to fix it ??
A: You have a worn pulley. Turning the wheels makes a slight change to the balance of the engine, which in turn makes the belt squeek against the worn pulley. Since there are a lot of pulleys, you may have to get real close to the noise to determine which one is bad.
Sometimes, you can get the "stop squeek" stuff at the auto parts store and it will temporarily stop the noise. Eventually, though, you're going to have to track down the bad pulley. It may wear down the belt, and when the belt breaks, it usually causes other damage.
Good luck!
Q: what is the spark plug gap setting for the 2002 kia sportage?
A: .044
Q: what is the correct tire pressure for a 2002 kia sportage?
I'm just curious if anyone knows the answer right now, I know it's prob in my manual or on the side of the tire but I'm at work and just wondering
A: The correct tyre pressure for your car is between 32-40 psi is safe driving pressure also if you can find your tyre plaque which can be located on the inside of the door it will also tell you what tyre size and pressure the vehicle should have
Q: 2002 KIA spectra cam position sensor?
I have a 2002 KIA, bought at a sale, someone has cut the plug off the cam position sensor, there are 3 wires, Kia will not sell just the pigtail plug, need someone to look at their plug and tell me the color code from top to bottom, that's all I need, no guessing or speculation please, and no, Kia wiring diagram or Chilton's or Haynes, do not give the color codes, need someone with a Kia to look, thank you.
A: What you can do if you want to because we have been in the same situation before with many cars where the pigtail is not available.
Call the Kia dealership or better yet go in person and ask to speak with anyone of the techs in the back and ask them for one of these.
All shops will have the pigtails because they cut them off wrecked cars and save them and the last one that we bought was $30.00 dollars.
Cheap price instead of paying $1400.00 dollars for a complete harness.
Q: Kia Gas fumes- My 2002 Kia's gas line was repaired-still smell gasoline fumes?
I have a 2002 Kia that had a gasoline leak , requiring repair of a hose that had detoriated resulting from being close to the manifold, it dried out, broke. The mechanic is a smart fellow and I like there service--he has had my car in the shop trying to find the gas fume smell for about two weeks now. He just wants it done right rather than release it to me-- he is only going to charge me 120.00 for all the work done on it thus far because they cannot find the problem. He has made several phone calls to other repair shops to see if they have encountered this issue, the KIA mechanics, at the dealership have not offered much help, probably because they understandably want the business for themselves. The gasoline leakage that was noticiably dripping under the car is not there anymore, however there are still strong fumes--anybody out there have ideas as to where the fumes might be coming from--think all the gas fume recovery lines have been checked-? Its not safe at this point--
A: First of all it shouldn't take two weeks to find where the gas fumes are coming from, that is rediculous. I would get it out of that shop and take it to a shop that has a smoker. When the smoker is hooked up, it will indicate where the fume leak is.
Q: 2002 Kia Spectra?
I need some help. I'm thinking about buying a car. It's a 2002 Kia Spectra with 59,000 miles. It's pretty much to be used for road trips and maybe driving in the snow some. It was offered to me for $3,000. It has a some minor dents but nothing real noticable. It's never been in any reported accidents.
A: Considering the vehicle blue books at a base model in fair condition for almost $4k I'd say it's a pretty good deal.
You need to keep in mind the following....Kia is Hyundai, period. The Kia line has never been well known for reliability, performance, etc. It will however get you where you need to go and should do so with minimal problems as long as it's been maintained.
In a situation like yours I would purchase the car (after a complete inspection, performed by a qualified mechanic) and plan on keeping it until the 100k mile mark. These are often coined as "throw away" cars....basically at the 100k mile mark you get rid of it or be prepared to spend a fair amount of cash keeping it maintained and running properly.
With the low miles on it I'd say you'll be in pretty good shape. You should be able to run it on the highway just fine and in regards to the snow...it's the same as any lightweight FWD car. It will make it through but you'll need to be attentive and smart about the routes you take. If there's 8" of snow on the ground a little KIA isn't going to do very well. You may want to consider upgrading the tires, a fresh set of 60k mile tires would suit you well.
Overall it's a yes on the buy, the price is fantastic...keep it maintained and it will last you several years at minimum.
Hope this helps!
